It's suddenly loomed on me that I am actually taking this mad challenge on and I've gone from terrified, to slightly nervous and now a bit excited about the whole thing!
I'm now in full taper, having completed all of my swims for the season, the biggest being my 21 mile 2-way Windermere (2WW) swim at the start of August. The 2WW has given my confidence a massive boost, I completed the swim in 11 hours 45 minutes and 40 seconds. But I did have the best support crew out (Mum and Dad thankyou!) and surge of support from my friends and people I train with even though the swim was through the night! In other words, I'm ready for this.
Before the countdown really gets underway and whatever happens, I just want to say thank you. Thank you to all the people I train with, it wouldn't have been possible without you. Thank you to everyone who gives me lifts to and from training and to my competitions. Thank you to my flat mates for putting up with all of this. Thank you to the clubs I'm part of; Devonport Royal SA and Devon & Cornwall Wild Swimming, who have become more like extended family to me.
And especially to Sarah P, Pauline, Sarah S, Nik and Darren, for a few long plods around the buoys at Cawsand and a few sharp kicks up the backside when I needed it. I really couldn't have done it without you.
For now all the best and I'll post the tracker link in a few days
From a sentimental sloppy git, thanks for everything
